Four Peaks Oktoberfest at Tempe Town Lake

The fall has finally arrived, and we’re all venturing out to enjoy the beautiful autumn weather! October means a lot of things, including milder weather, Halloween, and Oktoberfest! This year, the Oktoberfest hosted by Four Peaks Brewery will take place at Tempe Town Lake, starting on October 9th. Here’s some more info on the shindig.

One of the favorite annual events for ASU students and the city of Tempe, the Tempe Oktoberfest combines beer gardens, live music, great German food, and polka dancers. For both kids and adults, the festivities include a carnival and plenty of activities for the younger ones. Admission to the event is free, but you’ll want to bring cash for the food and drinks and some of the kid’s events.

Last year, Robert Nevin Medicis of Scottsdale, Arizona, says his time at the festival was, “the best event” he’s attended all year!

This year, Oktoberfest will feature Giant Carnival, which will have several rides for the kids, including:

  • Dizzy Dragons
  • Mini Himalayan
  • Apple Ride
  • Dino Buddies
  • Sky Fighter

Frank Kush Foot Race

Das 2015 Frank Kush Oktoberfest Foot Race will also take place during the event on Saturday morning, starting at the Tempe Center for the Arts Park with distances of 10K, 5K, and 1 Mile Fun Run on a scenic course around Tempe Town Lake.

Wiener Mania

dachshunds running for Weiner Race

Arizona Adopt a Greyhound, Inc. will host Wiener Mania, a dog race involving 32 dachshunds celebrating their German heritage. There will be 8 trial heats where the winners will advance to 2 semi-final races and 4 move on to the grand finale.

There will also be beer gardens throughout the park that will be serving a variety of Four Peaks beers as well as other domestic, local, German beers, and others from around the world. Of course, you must be 21 to drink, and IDs will be checked.

The festivities start at 5 pm on Friday, October 9th, and run through Sunday, the 11th at 6 pm. For more info on the event, as well as registration for the foot race, go to Tempe Oktoberfest’s website.
